The Institute of Earth Systems has an ad hoc Research Ethics Committee which manages the ethics review process for research by its staff and students.

The Institute's Research Ethics Committee ensures that the University’s Research Code of Practice is adhered to. All research activity conducted by staff or students is subject to the University of Malta’s Research Ethics Review Procedures which ensure that the highest standards of integrity and professionalism are observed in the conduct of research carried out under its auspices.
