FAQs for instructors

You can add a wide range of material to your Reading List such as ebooks, articles, websites, online videos as well as print publications. You are encouraged to use resources made available via HyDi.

Items which are on a Reading List and are not available at the Library will be ordered accordingly. Priority will be given to core texts. Other material will also be considered, funds permitting. For more information, please refer to the guide entitled Creating Reading Lists using Leganto , Section 5.2 and 5.3.

Reading Lists will be processed immediately after it is submitted for review by clicking on the Library Review button.

Of course! You can add a specific chapter manually or include a note for students within the citation. For more information, please refer to the guide entitled Creating Reading Lists using Leganto , Section 5.4.

Yes, however please note that resources included in the default course Reading List will be accessible to the entire UM community. Copyright protected content should be duly acknowledged.

It is recommended that Reading Lists are submitted to the Library by the first week of September for study units delivered during the First Semester, and by the first week of December for study units delivered during the Second Semester.

Yes, however ensure that you resend the Reading List for the Library to process (by clicking on the Library Review button) if added material needs to be acquired by the Library.

For the default Reading List, you should use the Core and Recommended or Thematic Reading List template. You may use other templates for additional Reading Lists.

Reading Lists should be published when you deem it appropriate.

Once published, the default Reading List is visible to the entire UM community, while additional Reading Lists are visible to course students only.

Your Reading List will become visible to students once you publish it. Sending the Reading List for the Library to process does not make it visible to your students.

Yes, you can re-upload a Reading List or else, use the Roll Over button in the VLE.

Yes. Access the Reading Lists Policy .

Yes, for study units which are not yet available in the VLE, the following format for default Reading Lists should be applied to the title: 

(PREP) <General Study-Unit Code>: < Course Title>
Example: (PREP) ART1234: Introduction to Art

For new study units which are still being reviewed for approval (hence a general study-unit code is not available), the format should be as follows: 

(PREP) <Proposed Course Title>
Example: (PREP) Introduction to Art

Yes, you can create additional Reading Lists to your study-unit. Make sure to publish additional Reading Lists to course students only.

There are two main roles in Leganto being Owner and Collaborator

An Owner can add, edit, change, remove or move items/list sections, add/remove collaborators or delete the entire list.
Collaborator can add, edit, change, remove or move items/list sections. As an Owner of the list, you can add your colleagues as Reading List collaborators.
