A student’s daily life involves numerous hours sitting at a desk, hunched over a book or keyboard. Small wonder that many end up with chronic back or neck pain. A regular routine of stretching and exercises can help to prevent these problems.

This routine also helps improve body composition, muscular strength and circulation. This course will give you help getting started on this routine. Learn the proper technique for the various exercises and get stronger slowly and sensibly.

The course involves 8 sessions (2 hrs per session) that only utilize body weight without any need of sophisticated equipment to attain a nicer, fitter physique.

Equipment required: a good pair of running or cross-training shoes, comfortable clothes, a large towel and a skipping rope.

This is a Fitness Class designed to energize your mind, body & soul. In this class you will get a full fitness cardio work out using the methods of boxing & aerobic fitness designed for all levels.

Such methods used are: Skipping, on the spot; Jogging, Squats, Crunches, Sit Ups, Punch Outs, Twists, Jump plus much more. So for a full Cardio fitness workout, that will leave your body energized and ready for more, please don’t delay join today.

The University of Malta Rowing Club invites you to be part of this new and exciting venture. Training will be provided through general fitness sessions, indoor rowing on our state of the art Concept2 ergometers.

Note: Although for the foreseeable future, training will be held on-land, it is hoped that the Club will also soon start to make use of the 8+ boats which have recently acquired from the University of Oxford's Exeter College Boat Club through the help of FISA.

Pilates is intended for all body types and most states of health. Your instructor will regularly provide alternatives, if a particular movement or technique does not agree with you. More advanced options will also be provided for students already familiar with Pilates or wanting an intensified workout.

You will progressively learn a repertory of movement that you can practice at home, before sporting activities, or as part of your regular workout. Although focusing on the ‘core’ abdominal muscles, Pilates guides students towards greater stability, strength, flexibility, and safe movement.

Goshindo is the Japanese art of self-defence. It is a mixture of different martial arts and uses techniques from Judo, Karate, Aikido and Ju-jitsu. It teaches one to defend oneself if in danger by either controlling, escaping or even disempowering the attacker. It is suitable for all gender and does not require any previous technical ability.

Badminton is a great sport for all those people that want to get fit and active, it involves hitting a shuttlecock, a cone-shaped projectile that moves differently to a ball.

It is able to reach much higher speed than a ball, makes for a fast-paced game, making badminton the ideal sport for those who like to be kept on their toes.

Students would need to bring their personal racket for the sessions.

Students will have the opportunity to learn four main strokes used in competition and recreation swimming. The Front Crawl; Back Crawl; Breast Stroke and Butterfly stroke. At the end of the course students will have mastered all these techniques. Sessions are held at the National Swimming Pool Complex.

You are invited to join the University’s official rugby team, UM Wolves RFC. Separate teams are in place for both men and women. Wolves are a young rugby team, with a strong sense of community and belonging, and a vibrant social life, while rugby is a contact game focusing on a combination fitness, power and agility. No prior knowledge of rugby is required.

Development Squad trains on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 7:30pm and 9pm - this team is for all new players to the sport to train up the basics.

The training sessions for women will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:30pm to 9pm.

The training sessions for men will also be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30pm to 10:00pm.

All the sessions will be held at Gudja United Football Ground.

Classes consist of dance routines and workout on a trampoline. If you have always wanted to train in a fun environment, then now is the time.

The focus of this unit is to give the students the opportunity to acquire the basic technical, tactical and physical components involved in various innovative games. These include Ultimate Frisbee, Tchoukball, Handball, Tag Rugby, Lacrosse and softball.

Different methods will be used to allow the students to gain the confidence required to play these games while also keeping fit and healthy.
