Open Science

Open Science

Open Science is a movement which strives to make every kind of scientific and research information freely available and accessible to all interested parties, ranging from an inquiring amateur to an established professional seeking to change the status quo in a particular field. It encompasses six main principles: Open Access, Open Data, Open Source, Open Methodology, Open Peer Review, and Open Educational Resources. Through transparent and easily accessible scientific knowledge, Open Science allows for easier reproducibility of results, increased impact of research outputs, enhanced collaboration on an individual as well as institutional level across various fields, and a stricter peer review process.

Our Library fully endorses Open Science and is fully committed to disseminating the intellectual output, research and data produced by the University of Malta in line with its core principles. Feel free to contact us for more information regarding open access publishing, licences, embargo periods, copyright clearance, and any other issues pertaining to Open Science.
