The aim of the RAID project was to carry out simulation and flight testing of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) operations to demonstrate their ability to operate seamlessly in unsegregated airspace. Bringing together four partners from Italy and two from Malta, the project culminated in RPAS flight tests in Italian airspace.

The University of Malta was tasked with developing the Design of Experiment, providing technical expertise for the preparation and execution of simulator tests (that were carried out simultaneously in Italy and Malta), and assessing the results.
